About UNICEF Western

UNICEF Western is a student run club within the University of Western Ontario. We aim to raise awareness and funds for UNICEF, a Non Profitable Organization that works directly with over 190 countries to directly improve the lives of children and the general population in struggling environments. Unicef has been working for 70 years to ensure the safety of children and families all over the world.

Our mission is rooted in the life cycle approach, which encompasses the importance of how early childhood experiences shape one’s life and health. This is crucial as the events in a child’s early life, good or bad, shape their future, and there is essentially no better way of helping a child if there is a clear understanding of their history. UNICEF has a main focus on disadvantaged children, such as children growing up in impoverished communities, exposed to harm or ill health, children with disabilities and children uprooted by war or turmoil in their native country.
